Galbraith
John Kenneth, geboren 1908, amerikanischer Nationalökonom. G. hat Agrarökonomik studiert und war – nach kurzer akademischer Tätigkeit – in der staatlichen Verwaltung für Preiskontrollen und als Herausgeber von Zeitschriften tätig. Er lehrte ab 1948 in Harvard, wurde Berater von demokratischen Präsidenten und Präsidentschaftskandidaten. Unter Kennedy war er Botschafter in Indien (1961–1963). Für die ⇡ Wettbewerbspolitik entwickelte er das Konzept der gegengewichtigen Marktmacht. Er schrieb im journalistischen Stil einige Bücher, die große Verbreitung fanden, in der Fachwissenschaft jedoch überwiegend kritisch beurteilt wurden.
